A better way to indulge...

You might have heard that collagen is an important building block for our bodies including skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints; but did you know that our bodies cannot synthesize enough collagen on their own to aid this building block? It is also impossible to count on our diets to fill this void because most of the processed food we eat today has been stripped of this vital component. Fortunately, we have a product that believes in sustainable practices that produce the highest quality nutrition products all based around collagen.

We here at Body In Motion are big believers in the benefits of Vital Proteins and adding collagen to your diet. Aside from all the beauty benefits Vital Proteins provide, the one that we value, and that is most helpful for our patients, is the benefits for joint pain. Collagen is like WD-40 for our joints. It coats our bones so we are able to glide and move without pain. The best part…you can add Vital Proteins to nearly anything! Coffee, smoothies, soup, cookies, whatever your heart desires.

Vital Proteins website provides you with all sorts of recipes that utilize their products. Here is one we think looks fabulous:

Healthy Ice Cream

Total Time: 1 hr. 30 min

  1. 2 cans full-fat coconut milk

  2. ½ cup water

  3. 1 scoop Vital Proteins Beef Gelatin

  4. 10 Medjool dates, pitted

  5. 2 scoops Cocoa & Coconut Water Collagen Whey

  6. 1 cup 100% dark chocolate chunks

  7. ½ cup salty almond butter

  1. Pour coconut milk into a large pot and bring to a boil, then simmer for 3 minutes.

  2. In a separate pot, boil half a cup of water. Add in Beef Gelatin and whisk into boiling water and turn off heat.

  3. Add gelatin mixture into coconut milk and whisk until well combined. Let the mixture cool slightly.

  4. In a food processor or high speed blender, add in pitted Medjool dates. Pulse until the dates are in a gooey ball.

  5. Add two scoops of the Cocoa and Coconut Water Collagen Whey into the dates and mix until it resembles crumbly sand.

  6. Once the coconut mixture has cooled slightly, add it to the date mixture into the blender and mix until well combined and most of the date bits are blended.

  7. Pour mixture into a glass container and freeze for about an hour.

  8. Use an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s directions.

  9. Pour the chilled coconut mixture into the ice cream maker and let it churn.

  10. Once the ice cream resembles a soft serve texture, add in chopped dark chocolate and almond butter to mix into the ice cream.

  11. Serve immediately, or store in a glass container and freeze for a more firm, scoopable ice cream.
